DA Camping Explained

Regions and District Associations

Would you like to get even more from your Club membership?

Camping with your local group or District Association (DA) is one of the best ways to make the most of the great outdoors whilst making new friends at the same time. The Club has 93 DA’s spread across 13 Regions.

They offer some of the most inexpensive camping available and you’ll always be guaranteed a warm friendly welcome. Members are welcome to attend any Meet, whether it’s organised by your own DA or a different DA elsewhere in the country.

Please be aware that DA Camping typically provides only essential facilities. You will often need to use your own sanitation and be self-sufficient for cooking, heating, and lighting.

Fresh drinking water and a toilet waste disposal point are always made available.

Your local DA is shown on your membership card and is based on your home postcode. To belong to the same DA as family or friends it’s easy to change or ‘opt’ to a different DA. Simply contact the Secretary of the District Association you would like to move to and they will send you an Opting Form to complete and return to them together with your Membership Cards.

How can I find out more?

You can search for the most up to date details of Meets and Temporary Holiday sites at Out & About online, or download the Out and About app for Apple or Android devices.

If you have ‘Paper Membership’ and wish to receive details of the Club’s Meets and Temporary Holiday Sites through the Out & About magazine you can opt in here to receive a copy every month along with your Club magazine.

Or, to find out more about events and activities organised by your local DA please complete our online enquiry form and we will put you in touch.

Alternatively call our Membership Department on 024 7647 5442, or browse your local DA’s website (you should find a link below).

What can your District Association offer you?

  • Regular Meets held throughout the season, often on specially negotiated sites, such as parks and stately homes
  • Temporary Holiday Sites or basic sites with minimum facilities are held all year in a wide variety of locations, often close to major tourist attractions and are ideal for an economical family holiday or weekend break
  • Social events where you can meet other members and make new friends. A wide variety of events are organised including BBQ’s, themed events, dinner dances, games and competitions as well as a whole host of activities to keep the children entertained!

About our Regions

The Club’s District Associations are grouped into 13 Regions, each covering Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Each Region organises a whole host of camping opportunities including Meets and Temporary Holiday Sites and in rotation organise the Club’s major annual event Torchlight Festival.

An elected representative from each Region, District Association and Special Interest Section sits on the Club’s National Council, the Club’s governing body of elected members who make the Club’s policy decisions on behalf of members.

About Special Interest Sections

Sections are voluntary clubs within the Club, and organise extra Meets, social events and activities for their members based around a particular hobby, interest or unit type.

The Club currently has nine Special Interest Sections, with annual fees between £5.00 and £7.00 all offer great value:

1. Association of Lightweight Campers
2. Boating Group
3. British Caravanners’ Club
4. Canoe-Camping Club
5. Folk Dance and Song Group
6. Motor Caravan Section
7. Walking and Cycling Section
8. Photographic Group
9. Trailer Tent and Folding Camper Group

Each Section has its own regular magazine or newsletter with information about forthcoming Meets, Temporary Holiday Sites and events, member letters and useful articles.

If you would like to join any of the Sections above, please call the Club on 024 7647 5442, or for further information visit Special Interest Sections – The Camping and Caravanning Club.
